I have a passion for helping others less fortunate than I am and bringing attention to otherwise ignored issues. Over the past few months I've begun capturing the faces of home displaced persons around metro Atlanta, GA. I learned stories of tragedy and triumph and shared a few laughs and tears.
I encountered people like Anthony, who I first met while he was reading a mystery novel on a cold wooden park bench surrounded by the fall foliage. He was eager to share his thoughts on his book and pose for an image or two. Others like John Chisholm; a God fearing man in transition from South Carolina to California, told me about the racial attacks he survived in his younger days.
These were all proud men and woman who carried with them stories of resilience and strength. Unfortunately many of us tend to look down on "homeless" individuals. The fact is a lot of us are one missed paycheck away from joining them. And thus, I wanted to photograph these individuals in all of their dignity and show how connected we all are to each other.
